I've got a very small duck-egg operation at my place in West Petaluma (10 ducks total) and we are ready to part ways with one of our older males. He is a White Layer breed, about 4 years old, fed organic feed and abundant forage, and in good health, almost TOO good if you know what I mean: during spring and summer he's a bit aggressive with our female ducks, particularly the younger ones, as male ducks are wont to be. Otherwise he is very well mannered, and very quiet -- and handsome to boot. He likes to splash around in our little tub, and spends his days foraging and sleeping in the shade -- and, at times, chasing or propositioning female ducks.
When male ducks are with male ducks only, they do not behave aggressively. But they're also very social and do best with a companion. So this little guy would be suited for a situation where a) he lives with one or more other male ducks only, and no females; or b) or he is in a free-range farm setting where there are a number of female ducks, perhaps 5-7 per male at the least.
